The Pakkawood Damascus Knife, 17.5 cm: A Special Edition Santoku Knife
Discover the exclusive Pakkawood Damascus Knife – a Santoku knife from a special edition series. With its unique appearance and outstanding performance, this kitchen knife is a must-have for every culinary professional.
Unique Design and Exceptional Quality
This Damascus knife features a distinctive hammered finish that not only gives it a remarkable look but also provides a natural non-stick effect. The hammered pattern creates small air pockets between the blade and the food, making it easier to release sliced items from the blade surface.
Premium Materials for Optimal Performance
The blade is made of high-quality GG 10 steel – DIN X100Cr15MoV – known for its exceptional hardness (approx. 58–62 HRC). It is layered with 33 sheets of softer Damascus steel on the sides, giving the knife its razor-sharp edge and necessary flexibility.
Multi-Layer Hardwood Handle for Safe Handling
The seamlessly crafted handle is made from multi-layer hardwood, resembling fine tropical woods and ensuring a secure grip. Its ergonomic shape allows for comfortable handling, enabling you to perform like a professional in the kitchen.

What makes a Damascus knife special?
Damascus knives are made from multiple layers of steel that are forged together. This creates the characteristic pattern on the blade. This combination results in a balance of hardness and flexibility.
How is the Damascus pattern created?
The distinctive patterns on the blade are formed by repeatedly folding and forging different types of steel together.
What are the advantages of this construction?
The hard cutting core ensures excellent sharpness, while the outer layers stabilize the blade and make it less prone to breaking.
Is every Damascus knife the same?
No, quality and craftsmanship can vary significantly. Factors such as the number of layers, the type of steel used, and the overall workmanship play an important role.
When is a Damascus knife the right choice for me?
A Damascus knife is the right choice for anyone who values high sharpness, precise cutting, and high-quality materials. Thanks to its special blade structure, it combines hardness and flexibility. It is suitable for both ambitious home cooks and anyone looking to take their kitchen work to the next level.
What tasks is a Damascus knife suitable for?
Damascus knives are versatile and ideal for cutting meat, fish, vegetables, and herbs. They particularly excel at fine, precise cuts. Models such as Santoku knives are especially popular for precise and even cutting.
What are the advantages of a Damascus knife?
Damascus knives are extremely sharp, retain their edge well, and allow for very controlled cutting. The multi-layered blade ensures stability and long durability. They also stand out with their distinctive pattern, making each knife visually unique.
Who is a Damascus knife less suitable for?
A Damascus knife requires careful handling and regular maintenance. Those looking for a very low-maintenance and highly resistant knife may be better off choosing simpler materials.
How should a Damascus knife be properly cared for?
Proper care is essential to maintain the sharpness and lifespan of a Damascus knife. Despite their durability, they require gentle handling.
How should a Damascus knife be cleaned?
Damascus knives should be cleaned by hand with warm water and dried immediately afterward. Cleaning in the dishwasher is not recommended.
How should the knife be stored?
Knife blocks, magnetic strips, or blade guards are suitable for storage to protect the edge.
How does the knife stay sharp?
Regular sharpening, for example with a whetstone, ensures consistently good cutting performance.
