The Blade:
The blades of our PAKKAWOOD series consist of three main layers: The middle layer is a carbon-containing and thus particularly hard special steel GG-10.
This special steel has a hardness of approx. 60 HRC and is therefore not very flexible. To make the knife more flexible and elastic, the so-called Damascus steel with 33 layers on each side is applied in a special process. After an etching of the blades, they get their typical Damascus grain and the elasticity necessary for daily use in the kitchen.
The Handle:
Pakkawood or hardwood is used a lot in the knife area because it is easy to clean and comfortable to hold. The handle is made of wine red hardwood and is glued with many layers. After curing, the hardwood block gets its handle shape and the surface its shine through skilled grinding and polishing. The grain fits very well with the Damascus blade.

What are the advantages of this construction?
The hard cutting core ensures excellent sharpness, while the outer layers stabilize the blade and make it less prone to breaking.
Is every Damascus knife the same?
No, quality and craftsmanship can vary significantly. Factors such as the number of layers, the type of steel used, and the overall workmanship play an important role.
