What do the numbers mean in stainless steel cutlery?
Numbers such as 18/0 or 18/10 indicate the composition of the stainless steel used. The first number refers to the percentage of chromium, while the second indicates the percentage of nickel.
18/0 stainless steel contains approximately 18% chromium and no nickel. 18/10 stainless steel also contains around 18% chromium, but with an additional approximately 10% nickel.
