Kitchen knives and more

Knives are an indispensable part of the equipment in every kitchen. The most diverse knives are used there. It starts with the paring knife, which is ideal for peeling fruits and vegetables with its short and curved blade, and the small fruit knife, which is used for apples and other fruits. With its small straight blade, the fruit can be easily cut, but also a core can be well removed. It is followed by the vegetable knife, which is about 9 cm long, the long and thin filleting knife, which is used for cutting the thinnest slices of meat as well as for portioning fish, and the boning knife, which is needed for separating and detaching meat from the bones. The largest knife in the kitchen is usually the bread knife, which has a wavy-ground blade that slices bread gently and easily.

Multi-purpose knife

Some knives have only one purpose. For example, there's the cheese knife, which is rarely used for anything other than cheese. Or the filleting knife, which is to be enjoyed only with special caution due to its high degree of sharpness alone and is therefore also rarely misappropriated. Other knives are often used for different cutting tasks, such as peeling fruit with a fruit knife or slicing sausage with a paring knife. Some knives, on the other hand, are intended from the outset for different tasks, multi-talents so to speak. These include the office knife and the utility knife, but also the chef's knife. The office knife and the all-purpose knife are similar in shape, but the all-purpose knife is 10-15 cm longer than the office knife, which has a maximum length of 9 cm. The blades are straight and taper to a point. The all-purpose knife is used for cleaning vegetables, while the office knife has rather smaller tasks such as cutting garlic cloves.

Multitalent chef's knife

The chef's knife is one of the great representatives of its kind. It is often used by professional chefs, who use it for many different purposes. Its blade is 15 to 26 cm long and up to 6 cm wide. This makes it a wide all-purpose knife that becomes a universal genius in the kitchen. Whether dividing, chopping, cutting, with the chef's knife you are always well advised. And once you get used to its size, you soon won't want to miss it. It is easy to work quickly and efficiently with this tool, which you probably already know from various cooking shows. By the way, the Santoku knife is also a chef's knife, only in the Japanese design. Its blade runs straight towards the front, while that of the European chef's knife is curved upwards towards the tip. This makes it wonderful for cutting vegetables quickly, something we always admire so much in the professionals. A chef's knife is the ideal knife for anyone who has discovered their heart for the kitchen.
