Knife Sharpeners & Whetstones
Knife Sharpeners & Whetstones for Long-Lasting Sharpness
Knife sharpeners and whetstones are essential tools for keeping kitchen knives sharp and ready for use over time. They help maintain the cutting edge regularly and restore the original sharpness of the blade. While knife sharpeners offer quick and straightforward handling, whetstones provide precise control during sharpening. With proper care, knives remain reliably sharp and ensure clean, controlled cuts in everyday kitchen tasks.

Use sharpening stones to properly sharpen knives
.Grinding or sharpening stones are also often called water stones in the professional world, because they are placed in a water bath before the grinding process. This procedure ensures a gentle sharpening of your knife blades. Depending on the grit, the whetstones need to be immersed in water for different lengths of time (for example, 1 hour for a 100 grit). In addition, the grit determines the preliminary, main or fine sharpening. Whetstones with a fine grit (100 grit and above) are used for fine sharpening and are also known as whetstones. Many whetstones also come with different grained sides to provide more flexibility as well as save space in the kitchen cabinet.
For knife sharpening, the right angle is also crucial, which is usually 15° or 20°. Always start with the tip of the blade and pull the entire blade with light pressure over the water stone. Make sure there is always a thick film of water over the stone and perform at least 3 sharpening movements on both the front and back blade.
